Objective and field of application
This Mexican Standard specifies the safety characteristics of electric pumps for liquids whose temperature is not higher than 90 ºC, intended for domestic use and similar purposes, with rated voltage not higher than 250 V, for single-phase devices and 480 for other devices.
Appliances that are not intended for normal domestic use, but that can be a source of danger for the user, such as appliances intended for use by non-specialized users in shops, small industries and farms, are included within the scope of this Mexican Standard.
As far as reasonable, this Mexican Standard addresses the most common hazards that appliances can present to people in the domestic environment.
